There are 8 types of dry terrain in Heroes 3:

*[[Sand]]
*[[Snow]]
*[[Swamp]]

There's also solid [[Rock]] that isn't very interesting at all, and [[Water]], but that's a chapter of it's own. There can be a layer of [[Magical Terrain]] over the normal one, though this most often only affects [[Combat]].

A flaggable structure that every day produces some [[Resources]] that are added to the treasury of the color whose flag it flies.

A mine is owned by the color of the last hero to capture it.

Mines can have armies stationed in them, in a similar way to [[Garrison]]s. (Shadow of Death expansion ''only'')

Regardless of where it is placed, any combat taking place on a mine will use [[Subterranean]] terrain for graphics and when determining [[Native Terrain]] bonuses.
