This is the active special ability of the Pit Lord.

Once per combat, each stack of Pit Lords can resurrect an allied stack of living creatures that is completely dead into Demons. Each Pit Lord resurrects 50 hit points converted into Demon hit points, rounded down. The number of Demons will not exceed the number of creatures in the original stack (1 Archangel becomes 1 Demon).

Number of Demons = ((Total Hit Points of Dead Stack) or (50 x Number of Pit Lords), whichever is smaller) / 35, always rounded down and capped to (Number of Creatures in Original Stack).

A few examples:

A stack of 24 Imps dies. (Total hp: 96)

1 Pit Lord (max 50 hp) will summon 1 Demon. (35 hp)

2+ Pit Lords (max 100+ hp) will summon 2 Demons. (70 hp)

A stack of 10 Dendroid Guards dies. (Total hp: 550)

1 Pit Lord (max 50 hp) will summon 1 Demon. (35 hp)

2 Pit Lords (max 100 hp) will summon 2 Demons. (70 hp)

3 Pit Lords (max 150 hp) will summon 4 Demons. (140 hp)

4 Pit Lords (max 200 hp) will summon 5 Demons. (175 hp)

5 Pit Lords (max 250 hp) will summon 7 Demons. (245 hp)

6 Pit Lords (max 300 hp) will summon 8 Demons. (280 hp)

7 Pit Lords (max 350 hp) will summon 10 Demons. (350 hp)

8+ Pit Lords will still summon 10 Demons, as the number of Demons cannot exceed 10 (the number of dead Dendroids).

Demon Herding might be a good idea, since Imps and Gogs have lower attack/defence ratings than Demons, and therefore their hit points are more valuable as Demon hit points. You can also herd Demons from cheap low level troops from other towns you don't need. Just make sure that the stack is completely dead and you can summon Demons before your enemy retreats, thus wasting your money and efforts.

Cloning Pit Lords will also give you extra summonings per combat.

Note: Elementals, Undead, Golems or Stone/Obsidian Gargoyles cannot be converted to Demons.
