In the original game, when you play as a female knight, the adventure map shows you as a male knight, but when you enter combat you look like a female cleric. The opposite is true for male clerics who look like female clerics on the adventure map but show up as male knights in battle. The rest of the combinations are as follows:
* male knight: both male
* female knight: male on the adventure map / female cleric in battle
* male cleric: female on the adventure map / male knight in battle
* female cleric: both female
