Emerald Isle

Also called Emerald Island. An island southeast of Antagarich, featured in Might and Magic VII: For Blood and Honor. It was the location of a scavenger hunt in 1168 AS, with the prize being the deed to Harmondale.
Emerald Island is southeast of Erathia, and far away from pirates and other ruffians. It would be ideal, if not for the constant swarms of dragonflies that infest the island. Fortunately, the large number of armed and skilled people this contest has attracted should thin their numbers a bit. Lord Markham has supplemented the normally sparse village with a weapon, armor, and alchemist shop for your convenience during the contest. A temple and basic magical guilds are also available. I would suggest making sure that you are completely ready before you start off on the contest. - Margaret the Docent, tour guide for contestants
Locations[edit | hide | hide all]
- Dragon's Lair: A cave in the northeast, home to Morcarack the Pitiless, the Dragon of Emerald Island. This solitary red dragon does not like visitors, and spares the town so that the locals may pay him tribute. The night before the Scavenger Hunt formally began, three contestants (a dwarf, an elf and a human mage) ventured deeper into the island and were killed by the dragon. Their shield was left in the cave, and the future Lords of Harmondale retrieve it as a clue to the missing contestants' fate, while dodging Morcarack's fiery attacks. The cave is also one of the places where the player can obtain a longbow, one of the items required to win the Scavenger Hunt.
- Temple of the Moon: An abandoned temple of the Church of the Moon, located in a cave on a hill north of the town. A river flows from the cave down the hill and into the nearby lake. The abandoned temple is infested with giant rats, some of which attack with fire or electricity, giants bats capable of spreading disease, including those that have fiery attacks, and giant venomous spiders. A floor tile from the secret library in the temple is obtained by the Lords of Harmondale as one of the items needed to win the Scavenger Hunt. Sal Sharktooh, another adventurer who ventured into the temple, offers to take a wealthy hat, an item needed for the contest, from them in exchange for sparing their lives. They can obtain a longbow by stealing it from Sal Sharktooth or looting it from his corpse after killing him.
Trivia[edit | hide]
- The second intro cutscene for Might and Magic VII: For Blood and Honor, shown after the character creation and just before the gameplay starts, depicts the beginning of the Scavenger Hunt and shows the missing contestants being killed by Morcarack the Pitiless.
- The town where Might and Magic VII: For Blood and Honor starts takes up the southern portion of the island.
- While it is officially emphasized that Emerald Island is far from pirates, they still pose some threat to it. There is a cannon by the northern shore, and Morcarack keeps pirates and undesirables out in exchange for tribute.
- The locals store various items in a shed by the seashore just beyond the swamp on the northwestern side of the island, but the dragonfly infestation has made it difficult to reach.
- Some of the Emerald Island's dragonflies can spit fire.
- The six items for the Scavenger Hunt are a longbow, a red potion that heals wounds, a wealthy hat, a floor tile, a musical instrument, and a seashell.
- It is possible to kill Morcarack in Might and Magic VII: For Blood and Honor, but this is rather tricky due to the characters being low level this early in the game and is not required for any quest.
- Printed map for MM7 places Emerald Island north of Nighon, although it is described as being southeast of Erathia. However, this placement is apparently not literal, as it is shown outside of the watery "border" the map features. The artistic depictions of The Pit and Celeste are similarly shown outside of that border, with Celeste being in the same part of the map as Emerald Island. Thus, the page goes with the game's description of Emerald Island's location.
