VCMI Project
"VCMI is a complete remake of Heroes of Might and Magic 3. It's a new engine built from the ground up, utilizing the original game's graphics, sound, and text assets. This allows VCMI to achieve near-perfect compatibility with the classic gameplay of Heroes 3 while offering the technical benefits of a modern engine. Everything in VCMI is rewritten from scratch, including game file loading, graphics rendering, AI, and core mechanics. VCMI Towns
Certain towns are featured here on the Heroes III Wiki. These towns are featured for meeting the following criteria:
- The town is complete in its graphics, audio, heroes, creatures, and other data (spells, abilities, etc.)—henceforth referred to as assets—of which none are missing or incomplete.
- The town uses original, high quality assets that are made by the author(s) of the town and are stylistically similar to Heroes of Might and Magic III.
- Exceptions can be made regarding original assets if work done to assets can be classed as "transformative" or "restorative", e.g. creating or restoring a hero portrait or building based on unused New World Computing artwork or ideas.
- The town does not use any AI generated assets, regardless of whether the AI generated asset has been modified.
- Creatures cannot be kit-bashed ("frankensteined") or recoloured from pre-existing models or sprites.
- The town is not incredibly over- or under-powered; it respects The Shadow of Death / Horn of the Abyss balance.
- The town is not made as a joke or for unserious play.
