Heroes of Might and Magic III: The Succession Wars

Heroes of Might and Magic III: The Succession Wars, often shortened to H3SW, is a mod project that aims to recreate Heroes of Might and Magic II: The Succession Wars with the Heroes of Might and Magic III mechanics, making it a hybrid of the two games, a sort of "Heroes 2.5".

Features[edit | hide | hide all]

  • Classes as factions: like in Heroes II, each town has only one corresponding class, instead of having one "Might" class and one "Magic" class. So there is no "Castle" faction but a "Knight" faction, and so on.
  • Heroes II hand-painted art style, instead of Heroes III's 3D renders. Original art from Heroes II is used where possible, and new art in the same style is created where needed.
  • Dirt, Sand, Grass, Snow, Swamp, Desert, Wasteland, Lava, Water, and Rock terrains. (Technically, Rough is turned into Desert, and Underground into Wasteland.)
  • Hero roster increased compared to Heroes II, since Heroes II had nine hero per class while Heroes III requires sixteen hero per town.
  • Each class has one additional unit since Heroes II had six levels of creature per class, while Heroes III has seven. The new unit was inserted in the middle tiers, at level 3, 4, or 5.
  • Like in the first two titles, not all units have an upgraded version.
