Runes
Basic: allows the hero's units to accumulate up to 3 Rune Levels in combat. Each rune Level gives bonuses to their creatures' stats:

1: +2 Attack, 2: +2 Defense, 3: +1 Speed.

Advanced: allows the hero's units to accumulate up to 6 Rune Levels in combat. Each rune Level gives bonuses to their creatures' stats:

1: +2 Attack, 2: +2 Defense, 3: +1 Speed.

4: +2 Attack, 5: +2 Defense, 6: +1 Speed.

Expert: allows the hero's units to accumulate up to 9 Rune Levels in combat. Each rune Level gives bonuses to their creatures' stats:

1: +2 Attack, 2: +2 Defense, 3: +1 Speed.

4: +2 Attack, 5: +2 Defense, 6: +1 Speed.

7: +2 Attack, 8: +2 Defense, 9: +1 Speed.

The bonuses of all achieved Rune Levels are cumulative. The unit gains +1 Rune Level when it attacks; +2 Rune LEvels when it takes damage; +3 Rune Levels when it takes a defensive stance.

Inteference is only useful on heroes aiming to face opposing heroes. Even then its use is limited to shortening the duration or damage of opponent's spells, reducing the amount of hit points they might resurrect, or the number of elementals they might summon.

In quick skirmish games with small armies, where spell damage or elementals matter, it might be useful, but in other formats it is mostly a wasted slot.

A possible exception to this is Giselle, who at high levels can reduce the spell power of any enemy to 1, regardless of how high it is.

For other, non-main heroes it is completely useless.
