Murdoch is one to call a professional soldier of fortune. He likes few things more than money and fame. Those urges are what led Murdoch to gather a company of fellow daredevils and head out to seek adventures in Jadamean wilderness. Who knows where fate will take him next.

The most likely reason Murdoch is banned by default is because he is attack-oriented in contrast to Factory being considered a balanced faction. Otherwise, his specialty would make the Halflings and the Gunslingers overpowered.

Murdoch is a sub-optimal choice for a starting hero for the same reasons Orrin isn't a preferred choice of a starting hero. Heroes with specialties in level 1 and 2 creatures (such as Henrietta or Sam) are preferable due to having a better starting army, facilitating the use of a single powerstack. However, at level 7, with Expert Archery, Murdoch's stack of halflings begins to outperform Henrietta's starting powerstack.
